The view of the Stanley Basin, looking Southwest from the present vicinity of Lower Stanley, is one of my favorites in all the world.  This incredible scene greets those who emerge from the rugged canyon of the Salmon River coming from the East along Scenic Highway 75.  Here I have chosen to remove the power poles, highway, and signs of civilization, and to enjoy the scene as it was seen by the native Sheepeater Indians, mountain men, and miners who frequented the area.
